Service Area:

The Village of Mokena is a growing suburban community that falls within the Frankfort Township. Our beautiful village is home to modern facilities as well as large community-owned parks, for the benefit of all residents and their families.

Did you know that "mokena" means "turtle" in the language of the Native American inhabitants who once lived in the area? Just like that noble animal, our community has slowly but steadily grown over the last two centuries.

Once a small market center for local farmers, Mokena developed into a beautiful suburban village in the heart of Will County after the advent of railroads in the area. As Chicago expanded, so did the neighboring settlements. In the late 19th century, Mokena had a handful of businesses run by a population of about 600 people, today, the village has grown to support a community of almost 19,000.

Set in the heart of Will County, IL, the village has one river passing through it – Hickory Creek. The historic Rock Island Railroad passes less than a mile north of the Creek, and today, Mokena hosts two commuter rail stations – Hickory Creek and Front Street – connecting the village to downtown Chicago. The I-80 provides the villagers access to I-355 and I-57. The Metra RI District Railway cuts through town, carrying freight and commuter traffic. The Canadian Railway tracks lie to the south of Mokena. As with many villages in the area, the historical Lincoln Highway supports east-west traffic along with LaPorte Road and 191st Street.

Mokena is home to well-established families, most of whom are married with children. The local education system is kept strong by the Lincoln Way Community High School District 210. Students can attend their choice of middle and high schools in Mokena, while Rasmussen and Joliet Junior College provide higher education in the area. Incidentally, Joliet Junior College, less than 10 miles from Mokena, was the first community college in the country.

Our little village is best known for big celebrities who were born and brought up here: the actress, Denise Richards, the radio host and columnist, Terry Boer, and mixed martial artist duo, the brothers Clay and Jason Guida.

With a largely youthful population, Mokena has seen rapid development in modern day amenities in the past decades. This Chicago suburb provides excellent medical, educational, and recreational facilities to its citizens, while staying a pace with the trend for casual hangouts, restaurants, bars, etc. From the Alley Grill & Tap House to the Tribes Beer Company, Mokena caters to the modern foodie’s palette with a variety of choices.

K&T Chem-Dry is so proud to be a part of The Village of Mokena community and to provide a healthy service for residents and businesses.
